Los Angeles Design Tour – Sheats-Goldstein Residence 01.20.24

IDA’s LA City Center will be hosting an exclusive tour of John Lautner’s 1963 masterpiece: the Sheats-Goldstein residence.  If you’ve never been, this is a MUST SEE LA architectural landmark.  Space is limited!

Two Tours
11am – 25 people
1pm – 25 people

About the House:
Located on the slopes above Beverly Hills, this Angelino gem has been the host of films, celebrity guests and scores of admiring architectural professionals and enthusiasts.  Current occupant James Goldstein purchased the home in 1972 and spent years restoring the home with Lautner himself.  He has been working for over 10 years with Lautner protege, Duncan Nicholson, on an addition that includes a guest house, tennis court, nightclub and terrace.  Staying true to Lautner’s original aesthetic, all components of the addition make use of poured-in-place concrete, angular corners and stunning views of Los Angeles.

Details to include for people who RSVP –

Day of Tour Details:
Park up on Davies or down Angelo View if there are spots in the cul de sac (space will be limited so carpool or use a rideshare service if you can) We will gather at the end of the driveway to meet our tour guide, Roberta Leighton. There is no parking at the House or in the Driveway.

A few things to keep in mind:

  1. Wear “sensible” shoes.  We may have the opportunity to walk the grounds.
  2. Photography is allowed, but please listen carefully to our tour guide in case there are restricted areas.
  3. This is a large group to move through the tour in one piece, so please stay together and be respectful of our guide’s requests.  Keep in mind that someone lives in this beautiful place.
  4. Ask lots of questions — she is very knowledgeable!
