THE COMPANY
Hennepin Made was founded in Minneapolis in 2011 through the partnership of Joe Limpert and Jackson Schwartz, with the common belief that handmade products have an essential place in our culture and everyday life. They infuse meaning into their objects through craftsmanship, detailed design, the history of the product, and a unique heritage that they are building on with each passing day.
THE PROJECT
Hennepin Made, an independent glass studio, creating lighting and other designs for retailers and designers, partnered with Kimball to create Hennepin & Co, a co-working space in downtown Minneapolis. In designing this new, upbeat co-working space, Hennepin & Co. aimed not only to create a functional place for individuals and groups to work and interact, but they wanted to create a space that felt modern in design with all the comforts of home!
In doing so, they utilized a breath of products from the Kimball portfolio. They chose KORE benching and Joya chairs as well as KORE carts and whiteboards for areas where focus work was required. Dock stand-up height meeting and multi-purpose tables and Joya stools provided a meeting/collaborative space at an elevated level that would lend itself nicely for stand-up work, if so desired. Dock meeting with Alumma chairs paired together beautifully to create a chic conference room that was surrounded by natural light; truly making the space feel bright all day! Pairings lounge seating and Dwell ottomans, along with Dock occasional tables provided the perfect solution for a more casual meeting or work area.
Tucker and Bloom seating with Dock café tables pulled together smaller areas nicely providing space for collaboration or casual meeting areas.
Bingo stools were selected to place with the Pairings divider wall that included a work shelf, providing yet another area for heads down work.
Fun materials combined with bright pops of color made the space feel lively with accent pieces, of course, that were created by Hennepin & Co. and positioned throughout the space bringing that homey feel along with the handmade craft into the space.
