Colors that make a statement in any work environment
Every year interior and paint color experts go through thousands of colors to select what they think will be the hottest colors for that year. This year, the choices range from bright and bold to the more subdued, but they still all have one thing in common — they’ll add a real statement to any office environment.
Of course, before you grab a roller and start covering your walls with paint, you may want to make sure your office furniture will have a good relationship with the color you choose. After all, if they can’t live together peacefully in the same room, how can you?
To help you out, we’ve taken a few of this year’s “colors of the year” and paired them with the Kimball furniture we think will feel right at home. Options that will complement, not clash. And will extend that new trendy look from your walls right through to your work and seating areas.
Ultra Violet, Pantone Color Institute
As its name suggests, Ultra Violet is ultra-bold, so it’s best when used as an accent wall. Pantone picked this color because they felt it, “communicates originality, ingenuity, and visionary thinking that points towards the future.”
Any piece from our Narrate collection would marry well with this color. Narrate’s end panel system can be outfitted with customized graphics, mixed materials, layered panels, seamed panels and more. Combining this opportunity for creative expression with the boldness of Ultra Violet will create a dramatic visual dynamic to your company’s workspace.
Oceanside, Sherwin Williams
This selection from Sherwin Williams is what designers call a jewel tone. Like Ultra Violet, it’s best as an accent wall or in small doses throughout the space. According to the people at Sherwin Williams, “this color offers a sense of the familiar with a hint of the unknown.”
Cool neutrals and greys pair well with this color, but that doesn’t mean your furniture’s style can’t be dramatic. A good example is our Villa modular lounge collection. Designed to support a variety of individual or group activities, it can be arranged in endless configurations. Add the optional full-height SHADE™ privacy divider panels and you can turn any open seating area into a cozy retreat.
Caliente, Benjamin Moore
Think you’re the hottest company in your business sector? Want to make sure everyone knows it? Then this color choice from Benjamin Moore is just what you need. “Caliente” is a bold color that will add inspirational energy to any space it enters.
With its classic combination of elements and casual, modern simplicity, our Pose collection offers the perfect balance to this dramatic color. Helping you create a truly grand entrance to any office, lobby, education, or healthcare environment.
In the Moment, Behr
If the color options you’ve seen so far have been a little too shocking to you, don’t worry, “In the Moment” from Behr has you and your walls covered. A soothing blend of gray, blue, and green, “In the Moment” provides a calming effect to a space and everyone working in it. According to Behr, this color is “ideal for working with traditional, modern, coastal and global décor,”
As its name suggests, our Pairings collection would pair well with this color to create a calming work environment. Pairings’ simple sofa/lounge collections can help you design a more informal, relaxed space where people can work, team up, or gather in comfort.
Black Flame, PPG Paints
According to PPG Paints, black is the new neutral. At least, their choice for Color of the Year, “Black Flame” is. The addition of indigo gives this shade of black a timeless element that will help it stay fashionable for years to come. “Black Flame acts like a black curtain, allowing your other décor elements to take center stage,” said Dee Schlotter, PPG senior color marketing manager.
Our Joelle collection allows you to go bold not just with your furniture selections but with your color combinations. Contrasting fabrics and stitching provide additional pops of color that can add a fun personality to any space. That’s why we think it would be a great furniture choice for this paint selection. Small in scale, each Joelle component can be combined with tables and surface ottomans to bring flexibility to the workspace without overcrowding it.
