LABC Los Angeles Architecture Awards Submissions are now open for 2019

49th Annual LA Architectural Awards Call for Entries submission deadline is 5:00p.m. on Friday, February 15th, 2019.

Before beginning your project submission, please take a moment to review our Call For Entries Fact Sheet & FAQ here. Feel free to print the Fact Sheet to use as your guide as you complete the form.

Complete the data fields below to create a New Record for submitting your entry to the 49th Annual Architectural Awards. You will need this login information to save your submission and return later to complete. It is no longer necessary to complete the entire submission application at one time.

Winning selections will be awarded & featured at the 49th Annual Los Angeles Architectural Awards Luncheon & Winners Exhibition Reception on Friday, June 21st at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. Winning projects will also receive a full-page spread in the 2019 commemorative print publication and be featured in the Los Angeles Business
Council’s (LABC) promotional materials & winner reel on the LABC website.

Eligibility:
To be considered, projects must be located within the County of Los Angeles and completed during the last two calendar years (2017/2018). Please see below for a full list of Design Award Categories & Sub-Categories.

Exceptions:
Projects in L.A. County not completed as of 12/31/18 may be submitted in the Under Construction or Design Concept categories.

Completed projects located outside of L.A. County may be submitted under the Beyond L.A. category.

Innovation and Technology in the Built Environment is open to all projects in the United States.

DESIGN AWARD CATEGORIES & SUB-CATEGORIES 

BEYOND L.A.
Any completed project outside of Los Angeles County, can be domestic international

CIVIC BUILDINGS
Municipally owned or community buildings

COMMERCIAL OFFICE BUILDINGS & HEADQUARTERS
Buildings that serve as commercial workspaces

DESIGN CONCEPT
Unbuilt projects Los Angeles County that have not yet broken ground as of December 31st, 2018

EDUCATION
Educational institutions or specific buildings part of an educational institution

HEALTHCARE
Hospitals, rehabilitation / healing facilities or health research facilities

HOSPITALITY
Hotels, attractions and entertainment places, such as museums and public gathering spaces

HOUSING
– Single-Family Residential
– Multi-Family Affordable
– Multi-Family Market Rate

INTERIORS
Projects with unique interior architecture and design

INNOVATION AND TECHNOLOGY IN THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT
*This category is open to all projects in the U.S. A component of a completed building that incorporates new technologies that enhance the functionality of the buildings or design by providing benefits such as energy efficiency, automation and convenience (both the component and overall building will be evaluated)

LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE

Design of outdoor areas that combines the natural environment with manmade structures for both public and private spaces

SUSTAINABILITY
Buildings that are certified LEED Gold or higher, and / or exhibit an extraordinary energy efficiency, greenhouse gas mitigation and water savings
capabilities

MIXED-USE PROJECTS
Developments that blend residential, commercial, cultural, institutional, or entertainment uses where those functions are physically and functionally
integrated, and that provides pedestrian connections

PRESERVATION
Projects preserving and/or restoring existing buildings

RENOVATED BUILDINGS
Projects making improvements on an existing building

RETAIL/RESTAURANTS
Includes buildings being used for the sale of goods to the public and restaurants

UNDER CONSTRUCTION
Projects that have broken ground between January 1st, 2017 and December 31st, 2018 but are not yet completed

TRIPARTITE AWARD
Completed projects in Guangzhou, China and Auckland, New Zealand that showcase best
sustainable designs as established by the Memorandum of Understanding with the three
mayors of Los Angeles, Guangzhou and Auckland.
